Windows Registry Recovery – Recovering From Malicious Attacks on Your Registry

By Logan Albright

While Windows is a piece of engineering marvel, it is not a perfect environment, as we all know. It is prone to crashes, shutdowns, lock ups and sudden freezes that have been part-and-parcel of owning and running a Windows based PC for the many years that it has been in the market. One of the many vulnerabilities of the computer is the malicious attacks that Windows can suffer from the hands of Trojans, viruses, malware, adware and worms – which can debilitate and even destroy a computer. The defence has of course been put in place and made available on the open market, with many people already installing all sorts of antivirus and anti spyware programmes to boost the defence of the computer.

Many modern modems with broadband capabilities have in fact firewalls to bolster the defence and Windows itself has an internal firewall to help to dissuade malicious software from entering the supreme environment of the operating system. Even with these multi-tiered defences in place, Windows is still left vulnerable to attacks, especially when it comes to its exposure to the internet. Viruses and Trojans can be cleverly hidden and disguised as harmless programs and email attachments, of which some anti virus programs do not have the ability to detect. Some have been designed to fly below the radar of the many defences of the computer and sneak in parts, reassembling itself when all of the necessary code has been transferred to the memory banks of the computer via the internet.

Other ways include piggy backing on large files and data programs which the user will install on the system. If you look at antivirus programmes today, their virus definition files are updated on almost a daily basis, which means that programmers and hackers out there are morphing and producing new and more virulent viruses on a daily basis, which leaves the computer user at quite a dilemma. Not updating for a day could mean the difference between a safe environment or infection. One of the main things that a virus attacks would be the registry, one of the most important files in the Windows environment. How does one recover when the registry is compromised?

The best way is to download, install and run a Registry Cleaner, which can and will remove all the extra code and bad commands left behind by the Trojan or virus. What they do when they enter the registry is to add random bits of code or commands that would allow them access to other parts of the PC, or even delete chunks of information, which would give null values a rampant run on the registry, and eventually, lead to crashes. What a registry cleaner does is get rid of all the problems once Windows restores part of the registry (from a stored backup), necessary to restoring your computer to its previous, healthy state. With a registry cleaner, no matter how malicious the attack, the chances of a recovery would be greatly enhanced. All it takes for a more secure feeling where your computer is concerned is a simple download.
