Choosing which cookies to keep A cookie is a small file that a Web site can place on your hard drive. It contains information about when you visited the site, and may contain tracking and settings information Wiping free disk space When you delete a file, Windows removes the reference to that file, but doesn’t delete the actual data that made up the file on your hard drive.
