How to use the Bootrec exe tool to repair startup issues in Windows Vista by Britec You can use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE) to troubleshoot and repair the following items in Windows Vista: A master boot record (MBR) A boot sector A Boot Configuration Data (BCD) store Note When you are troubleshooting startup issues by using the Windows RE, you should first try the Startup Repair option in the System Recovery Options dialog box. If the Startup Repair option does not resolve the issue, or if you must troubleshoot more steps manually, use the Bootrec.exe tool. Bootrec.exe options The Bootrec.exe tool supports the following options. Use the option that is appropriate for your situation. Note If rebuilding the BCD does not resolve the startup issue, you can export and delete the BCD, and then run this option again. By doing this, you make sure that the BCD is completely rebuilt. This is a great tutorial but this WILL break your recovery partition that came with your computer. However sometimes you don’t have a choice if your pc isn’t booting. Any way to salvage that f11 recovery choice that some pc’s have built in?
Is this cd the same as the OS cd the laptop comes with
aww seriously guy? your gonna charge $20 for the recovery disc? that makes you no better then microsoft who fail to include the recovery disk when its inevitable we would need it only to charge us later for one.

I got to the part at 4:45 and it said the total identified windows installations was 0, so I thought meh I’ll just exit and reboot, but now when I boot I have the error occured while attempting to read the boot config data for bootbcd, please help me, I’m at my wits end :/
how can you get out of the startup recovery, it’s in a loop. can bcdedit be used to get it out of the loop ? if so what command?
I did it so now do I go to bios and change boot to harddrive or what do I do because if I keep disc in it loads the disc but if I take it out it’s still in MBR please help
to boot, can i use USB instead of CD? meaning i burn the iso file to USB and use it as medium to boot
Yeah, those .iso files used to be free, but Microsoft had some licensing beef with it, so yeah, they charge for it now, but at least you can trust their version is clean, otherwise, try your luck looking for some torrent.

thanks a lot man you save me money. for the people that dont have the recovery dis download torrent its free then after that finishing up downloading then go on google type in whatever you OP is then recovery dis for ex (windows 7 recovery dis)
