Something important : Manually re-importing of the registry may result in imcomplete restoration of former values. For a complete backup it is always recommended to have a System Restorepoint (created by the System Restoration Tool). This exports the entire registry into a backup you may have to use later for restarting the system if necessary. The backup files are located here: System Volume Information _restore{systemindividual keysequence} RPxxx snapshot .

I’ve been using CCleaner…it has a built in registry cleaner. It’s a well known program and I feel pretty safe with it. it offers to make a back up copy before running the fixes.

True its easy to cause problems if you manually edit your registry. But I wouldn’t trust some program by a 3rd party to do it either.
